Good model building begins with the basics, some good modeling building tools. In the video beneath you can see what you need.
For the ones that not wish to see the whole video, i have written down all the tools in the list below:
- Organizing your tools is good. I use a clever pen holder, which is good for holding things like brushes.
- The bigger tools can be kept in a small box.
- All kinds of glue for all kinds of purposes.
- Sturing, holding while painting and cotton dub sticks.
- A filler is a must have for every model builder. Plasto from Revell is a good one.
- Lead weights, to hold the tail of heavy planes on the ground and white tack to secure them.
- Tweezers are essential for the hard to reach places. Mirrors are useful to.
- A magnifying glass to get better detail.
- Sand paper is prior to make things smooth.
- You could have a razor blade but a Exacto blade is recommended.
- Sprue cutters are also very effective.
- Different types of files.
- You will definitely kneed all kinds sized brushes.
- A pin vice is important to make tiny holes.
- A piece of polystyrene and rubber bands come in use.
- Small scissors to cut out your decals.
- Clamps to hold the wing together and you will get no splits in join lines.
- Some plastic cups to hold your paint.
- Masking tape is very important.
- Gloves to keep your hands clean and your model clean.
- Cloths for the brushes.
- Having a nice and organized desk will help you build your model quicker and everything stays cleaner.
- Create a worn look with MIG pigment and Humbrol tinner for model “wash”. Revell Olive Aqua paint is good for the worn look on your model.
- Revell aqua colors for painting! Humbrol has also some nice color schemes.
- A cutting mat of course, otherwise your beautiful underground get scratched.
- Stretched sprue to rig your model.
- A paint reference is a good guide so you know which paint to buy.
